How to Create a Resume Tee
So, you’ve decided you want to create a Resume Tee, but need a little more info. No problem, we’re happy to accommodate. A good place to start is with your existing resume if you have one, and if you don’t, consider these guidelines for creating one.
For a basic template, you can click on the image to the left, which briefly outlines the categories you would typically include in a resume. Remember, it is the concept of your shirt that will attract attention, so while it is important to list the major details, you should feel comfortable parting ways a bit with traditional resume etiquette. Eliminating things like your contact information (which we require you do as a safety measure), dates of employment, descriptions that are excessively long, etc. frees up space for more creativity to come through.
It may help to think of your Resume Tee as a billboard on the side of a highway. You have seconds to make an impression, so what do you want people to know about you, both as a potential employee and as a person? It’s best to keep it really simple and direct. Now, if you think you’re ready, head on back to our shop!

So, as you’ve already discovered, this the back end of the Blackbird Tees website, and it’s the heart n’ soul of our tiny company. When I embarked on a search for my professional identity, inspirational oases were few and far between. I would find myself on the Best of Craigslist at two in the morning, longing to find my frustration and anxiety echoed in the stories of others. While there were a few gems that brought comfort and some semblance of a community, by and large, the road was a lonely one.
And so, I answered my own call by creating the Find Your Blackbird Blog. There are three primary areas to explore. The Lost Demographic is for those individuals that haven’t quite figured it all out, but have no shortage of things to say. Are you stuck in a professional rut? Feeling disheartened? Visit us here to discover tales of bravery, fear, embarrassment, and hilarity courtesy of our employees and contributors. Continue reading »

I think we’re all comfortable enough to admit that sometimes logos are confusing. You can plaster one on your jacket, hat, truck and rims, but unless people know what you do, it doesn’t mean a whole lot. Why not just state it in simple terms? There’s still a time and place for the ol’ logo, but if you are in the initial stages of simply recruiting clientele and getting the word out about what you do, why not take a direct route? What is a Resume Tee?
In the spirit of putting yourself out there, the Blackbird Resume Tee is a creative way to expand a job search. It makes the process interactive and invites people to talk to you. When you browse the job search engines and send your information off into cyberspace, you often lose all of the human interaction. And while we wouldn’t suggest that anyone abandon the more traditional route, we certainly don’t see any harm in covering more ground. Continue reading »

I think part of what feels so overwhelming is the sense that you should just know what you’re supposed to do with your life. There seems to be this romantic notion that it’s simply going to appear before you one day. In reality, finding fulfillment in any way comes from a series of tiny moves, day-to-day decisions based on a belief that something better exists. It is a slow, sometimes agonizing process. So, while the instinctive voice is there, it speaks in fragments…telling you what is enjoyable, revealing what comes naturally to you. Each time you let it guide you, it shifts you closer to more consistent happiness. When I was younger, I was acutely aware of what I did and did not enjoy. These types of choices were not laced with interpersonal relationships, feelings of obligation, fear of rejection, etc. You have to rediscover that on some level in order to clear out the mental clutter and truly follow your gut.
